The poet that i chose was Sarah Newcomb. I liked most of her poems because they
have a very true meaning and seem to come from the bottom of her heart. I like
the poem "Father" because it states that no matter how many times you may mess
up your father will still be there to help you, and forgive you for what you've
done. This relates to my personal life because my I don't live with my dad any
more and i know that even though we are further apart and don't see each other
that often that he in a way 'has my back' whenever i need him. 110 I like the
poem "Orange Leaves" because it remeinds me of the winter season and all the
good times i have had over the winter and fall. I especially like the line
"I am my bones; I cannot escape.
I travel this path in continuous autumn,
But winter is here now and taking its shape."
because it's true, nature is unstoppable and you can't escape it, and that can
be taken either as a bad thing or a good thing, in my case it is a good thing
because i enjoy the holiday season.
The poem that I disliked was "Silver". The poem doesn't actually rhyme,
which isn't the reason i don't like it. It seemed too short to actually have a
lot of thought go into it. Although it is very short, i believe it conveys a
big meaning, stating that the world as we know it is all the same every day,
but just when you least expect it, everything can change in an instant.
My personal definition on poetry would be that poetry is a deep thought
expressed lyrically in a rhyming, or verse manner.
